Navajo Dances

Storytelling Dances
1.  Bow & Arrow Dance
 - Story of the hunting days of the Navajo also used as protection.
2.  Maiden (Corn Grinding) - Teaches of the Navajo women's task and role in survival skill of the people
3.  Holy People (Four Direction) - Inspired by the four directional spiritual teaches of Hozhooji or Blessing Way.
4.  Sash/ Rug Dance (Weaving) - Spider Woman's teaching to Navajo people of Weaving.
5.  Cane Dance (Long Walk) - Story act of the Long Walk or removal of the people from their home land, Dine' Tah.

Traditional Dances:
1.  Basket Dance
- Story of the important role of the basket in Navajo Life, and it's spiritual role in all Navajo lifeways.
2.  Ribbion Dance - One of the winter dances performed in the Fire Dance, a very colorful dance.
3.  Feather Dance - Feathers play an important role in ceremonial life of the people, the feathers are prayer items.

4.  Buffalo Dance - Part of the Fire Dance,  the buffalos important role in spriitual, livelyhood and role in the nomadic 
          days of the Navajo People.

Social Dances:
1.  Two Step Dance
- A partner dance performed in the warm season.
2.  Skip Dance - A partner dance performed in the warm season
3.  Spinning Dance - A partner dance perfromed in the warm season
4.  Round Dance - A friendship dance resembliing a victory dance.


Southwest Dances:
1.  Turkey Dance
- Inspired by the Zuni Turkey Dance,  although the turkey plays and important role in the Navajo
             culture.
2.  Eagle Dance - A popular dance in the Southwest regions of the USA. The dance is influence and performed in a
               pueblo style.
3.  Hoop Dance
- Hoops are important in most Southwest tribe, they are used in many different ways such as social
             or ceremonial.

4.  Apache Dance
- Cousins to the Navajo, we honor the people with social dance style from the Apache.  Not 
          Masked Dancing (Gaan) 

Inter-Tribal Dances:
1.  Men's Northern Traditional Dance
- All Pow-Wow dances influenced from the Northern and Southern Plains
                    Indians.
2.  Men's Southern Traditional Dance
3.  Grass Dance - Personally influence to A. Brent Chase from the Anishinabe, or Ojibway family.
4.  Jingle Dress Dance - Personally influence by Ojibway family to A. Brent Chase's family.   (A jingle dress givin to 
          Chase's family)
5.  Fancy Shawl Dance -
6.  Women's Norther & Southern Traditional Dances

Other Indigenous Dances:
1.  Aztec Dance
- Learned when in a perfessional group of BYU.
2.  Hawaiian Dances - Inspired by Hawaiian friends from BYU, and cultural exchanges with native Hawaiins.
3.  South American Dances
- Learned from BYU, and traveling to the South American tours.

Native American Music:
1.  Native American Flutes
- A. Brent Chase is a natural musician with flutes and had taken music lessons for music.
2.  Native American singing/chants - Singing for childhood to now.  Learning from traditional ceremonial sings and on 
          going performances
3.  Percussion Music - From traditional drums to modern style drums.  Jembie, mombo drums, traditional rattles to 
          modern rattles.
4.  Music Making & Song Writing
- A natural talent, makeing stories come to life through songs and  compositions.
